Join us in welcoming Jax to the Forest Acres Police Department!
Our new K-9 unit and his handler, Officer Kory Mayo, have officially graduated training and are hitting the streets - making our community even safer.
Jax will be sworn in at our City Council meeting tomorrow night, and FAPD Chief Gene Sealy will present Jax with his official badge.
“I am tremendously proud of our new K-9 Jax and his handler, Officer Kory Mayo, for their commitment to enhance the capabilities of the FAPD in serving our residents and businesses.” Says Chief Sealy. “Many thanks to the American Kennel Club, Columbia Kennel Club, Inc., and Forest Acres City Council for the funding and support to make this program possible. And thank you to Sheriff Leon Lott and the Richland County Sheriff's Department K-9 staff for 15 weeks of training for Officer Mayo and Jax to achieve this certification.”
